Re: Unplanned depreciation causing reversal of ordinary depreciation

Hi Sridevi,

I am struggling to understand the concept of unplanned depreciation, would you please mind to explain little bit.

My client want to close down some assets by bringing their book value zero. I suggested to scrap them and write off but he doesn't want to do that.

He is trying to bring asset NBV to Zero by posting unplanned depreciation t-code ABAA however, the problem is we have two depreciation areas in an asset class and the NBV of these are different.

for ex: 01 has 3000 Euros where as Area 02 NBV is zero.

So when we booked unplanned depreciation NBV of 01 became zero however, the NBV of area 02 has became -3000. (I know the reason for -ve NBV in area 02)

Client is asking why we have -3000 for depreciation area 02, I know the answer for that but not sure is it normal behaviour and what is the solution to have zero NBV in both depreciation areas?

It would be a great help if you can suggest.

Regards,

Krishna
