In addition to my reply above, to ensure that the planning function doesn't execute multiple times (and hence, execute the process chain multiple-times), the planning function needs to be based on a dummy aggregation level that's further based on a dummy InfoProvider. The dummy InfoProvider needs to only have 1 row (you can manually load this row - it doesn't matter what the data in the row is). Note that Analysis for Office allows you to make use of planning functions that totally independent of the Aggregation Levels/InfoProviders you are currently using in your crosstabs.
