Hi Don,
Thanks for bearing with me. It's time for a disclaimer - I'm a database guy and I design the reports and the procedures. All of this is done in the standalone designer.
I'm aware that there is(was?) an add-in for VS that allows you to build reports within the VS environment. What I meant was that I don't do any *report* development within VS so I was trying to ascertain whether some of those downloads you linked to included a VS add-in which I don't need...
We have a very good C# guy who has built a multi-threaded framework which uses queues and all sorts of stuff to generate our reports - and trust me, our production system boots out about 10,000 reports an hour over two or three servers. It's not a botchy system - even if it is a very old one!
It's perhaps unfortunate that our C# developer isn't available at present and that *I'm* the one trying to work out why referencing a different set of assemblies with what looks like the same method call suddenly results in the system throwing an error that cannot be the right one. :-/
I'm afraid that I'm still rather confused by all the various columns in the page that you linked to, but I guess that these are all just different ways of installing the same thing?
Anyhow - I will test with the SP17 runtime and let you know how I get on.
Cheers,
Peter
